Michael Jackson Biopic Release Moved to Q4 2025
Lionsgate updated the release date of Michael, the highly anticipated biopic about Michael Jackson from director Antoine Fuqua. The film has moved half a year back from April 18, 2025, to October 3, 2025.
All-Star Cast Embodies Jackson's Memory
His famous uncle's role will be played by Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the legendary pop icon who shows Michael Jackson's schizophrenic personality and his unparalleled musical legacy. Other cast members include Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo in supporting roles. The film's script is also one of the most talked about, having been written by John Logan, while producers Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain are staunch about paying their due respects to Jackson's memory.
The Following Comedy Good Fortune Joined Lionsgate's 2025 Slate
Along with Michael, Lionsgate also announced a release date for the Aziz Ansari-directed and -starring comedy Good Fortune, which is due to open in theaters on October 17, 2025. The ensemble cast is rounded out by Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, and Keanu Reeves. The story focuses on Reeves as a quirky angel caught up in the life of a bitter gig worker, Ansari, and a successful venture capitalist, Rogen. From the minds of Ansari, Anthony Katagas, and Alan Yang, Good Fortune is set to create a deep dose of laughter amidst a dose of pathos for viewers.
Antoine Fuqua Unveils His Concept for Michael
During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July, director Fuqua shared where the film is; he mentioned that he is deep in the editing process. "Michael was an incredible influence on me and my career," Fuqua said. "He was not only an extraordinary artist but also a human being, and this film will explore that duality. I'm excited to bring his story to audiences."
Capturing Jackson's Musical Brilliance
Audiences got an exclusive sneak peek at Michael during CinemaCon this April, when producers revealed the biopic would feature 30 of Jackson's iconic songs. It will take quite a long time to examine Jackson's influential life and work.
