Dada As The Sun Races By
"When I wake up in the morning, the sun is so dim,
And I am so tired that I can't lift a limb,
As the morning goes by the sun gets much stronger,
Since summer is nearby, the days seem much longer.
It's afternoon now and the sun's shining bright,
For in a few hours, it will be a pretty sight.
Now this pretty sight is one you must see,
So sit back in your lawnchairs as my family does with me."
It's hard to see that things have changed,
Since the time that Lincoln had to proclaim;
Om man master, one man slave,
Beaten so he would not misbehave.
"We watch the sunset colors: orange, yellow, and pink,
We gaze into the sky and don't miss a wink.
Now the sky's getting darker as the sun disappears,
Knowing night's coming closer and the moon will appear.
We don't get excited, from this we have learned,
That first thing in the morning, the sun will return."
As the sun races by us, we all must assume,
That time runs in circles, must our history, too?
We watch in horror every day,
The news accounts of racists at play.
With killing considered as a sin,
Except to a different color of the skin.
