Proud Lyrics

Melody Chance Proud

Sometimes I wonder,
What the world would be like if I blended in,
If I didn't turn the head of every eye roll in the room and every “im better than you” that's ever lived,
Sometimes I wonder.

Would I be bored?
Of never feeling like a statement and a risk,
Or would I finally feel at rest, and never find myself afraid to go outside,
Would I feel safe?
Sometimes I wonder.

But afraid doesn't mean that I'm not proud,
And nervous doesn't mean I don't have love for myself,
Im the person that i need myself to be,
And I'm proud.

Sometimes it's hard,
When my face and name don't match my ID,
And all I want to do is have a drink with friends, but it's so hard,
And the whole thing makes a scene outside the bar.
Sometimes I wonder.

There's this athlete on the track all day and night,
She'll push her limits to be faster than the rest,
And on some level I relate, Ill push myself until it hurts,
But not to be the best, just to be the same.

I'm the person that I need myself to be,
No matter what they think or what they see,
I'm still certain that I've never been so free,
And I'm proud.
