Carrie Underwood to Perform at Donald Trump's Presidential Inauguration

Country music superstar Carrie Underwood is set to appear at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration ceremony this coming Monday, January 20, on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The eight-time Grammy-winning artist will perform "America the Beautiful," joined by The Armed Forces Chorus and The United States Naval Academy Glee Club, according to Billboard.

Underwood Says She's Honored

In a statement, Underwood says she is honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. "I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future," she added.

Leaked Program Shows Performance Slot

Earlier this month on the 13th, political journalist Matthew Foldi, one for the outlet above, uploaded an image onto X from what seemed like an official program of the said ceremony. Indeed, Underwood's name does pop out within its slated performer just right before Trump delivers his presidential oath to officially emerge as the U.S.A 47th President; right after JD Vance—who's soon-to-be-former junior-U.S senator—would have gotten sworn into vice.

Also performing at Trump's 2017 inauguration was America's Got Talent finalist Jackie Evancho and a performance by the Radio City Rockettes. In comparison, the 2021 inauguration of President Joe Biden had Jennifer Lopez performing "America the Beautiful" and "This Land Is Your Land."

Several country stars have performed during past presidential inaugurations. Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard made an appearance at Biden's, while Garth Brooks brought the house down with his version of "Amazing Grace."

Underwood's Future Projects

Aside from her inauguration appearance, Underwood has been working on her latest project, Carrie Underwood: Reflection. The concert special, based on her three-year Las Vegas residency, will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu this Friday, January 24. Underwood's Vegas residency is set to end on April 12.

Her latest album, Denim & Rhinestones, released in 2022, went to No. 2 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. It was also her 10th album to reach the top 10 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
