U2 Premieres Fresh Track 'Atomic City' During Las Vegas Music Video Shoot
U2, the iconic Irish rock band, thrilled fans by introducing a new song, 'Atomic City,' as they prepared for their upcoming Las Vegas residency. On a Saturday night, September 16, the distinguished members of the U.K. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame chose to debut this exciting track during a music video shoot in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. This musical gem is anticipated to coincide with the launch of U2's residency performance at the renowned Venetian's Sphere venue, scheduled for September 29. While official details are yet to be revealed, this surprise has certainly heightened anticipation among fans.
A Spectacular Video Shoot in Downtown Vegas
During the memorable video shoot on that Saturday evening, U2's Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. graced a live audience with their performance atop a flatbed truck, traversing the bustling Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. This location held significance as it closely resembled where the Irish quartet shot their iconic 1987 video for 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.'
Reportedly, Bono shared with fans during the video shoot that 'Atomic City,' the song's title, is a nod to an old Las Vegas nickname. He further revealed that the song's inspiration draws from the "late '70s post-punk" era, akin to the musical styles of Blondie and the Clash.
