Chris Bathgate Riverwide
I was a lonely little child
On the banks of a river wide
She was most beautiful and blue
And had rest on the other side
Unfurling foam
Far from every stone
And the trees began to sway
Lost my life in a roaring river wide
Just to be with you that day
No bridge, no boat
No way to stay afloat
As I began to cross
I was caught and kept in a current that could crush
And within the waves was lost
As my arms feigned and the water overcame
The waves began to sing
And in my ears, I swear to you my dear
Was a lovely silver ring
I was a lonely little child
In love with a silvery sound
Would you shed a tear for me my dear
For on that day I drowned
