Chris Foster Veterans Day
(in memory of John Davis) In memory of John Davis. Our hearts are still with you It been 20 years now since I last saw you. You were getting on bus with a sadness in your eye. The last thing I heard you say, you told your momma "please don't cry" When basic was over you got orders to go to Namm Some outpost near the border, fighting Viet Congs You were just a boy 5 months before but now your groomed for hell Well son we really missed you, did you ever get our mail One day a man in a uniform drove up and I thought it was you Then I realized it wasn't and the they probably had bad news. Well some captain said that you were not alone when your post was overrun He said you went down fighting, shots were fired from your gun. Chorus: I don't know anymore what has gotten into this world Where people play the fools while some politician rules They can launch an attack, But nothing they do is gonna bring you back Cause now your dead and gone and your name is on this stone In memory of John Davis I hope your doing fine I know you are in heaven, I knew it all the time With this special thought on Veterans Day I read your name upon this stone With 50' thousand more men who never made it home] Oh its such a travesty. Can we see the light Can we work out our problems or do we always have to fight or do millions of our flesh and blood have to pay the price for a government inability to follow good advice. ---repeat chorus In memory of John Davis. Its time to say good-bye I know you never wanted to see your old man cry But as time goes on I miss you more and more with each passing day God bless my son my soldier on this Veterans Day.
