Eleventh Dream Day Road That Never Winds
There's a feeling that dwells inside him
It's been living there so long
It dawned on him one morning
He's been going about it all wrong
It took him twenty minutes to put on his shoes
Life slowed down to a crawl
He walked to work ten miles away
In time to hear the quitting bell
He stepped into a neighborhood tavern
He had a drink with a metermaid
She could tell that his time was up
But her instinct was to save him
Don't waste your time. I'm a drowning man
He said it with a gasp
Your attempts are very noble
But i'd just as soon go fast
The feeling soon went out of him
After repeated shots of gin
He stared blankly at a lava lamp
Next to a picture of Bobby Vinton
The metermaid followed close behind
She was obviously inspired
By the blurred visionary path he took
Down the road that never winds
