Emily Bindiger My Mother's House
How can you say that you're sorry and sad
When you can't understand why death makes you mad
It's seems that for some life is a facade
And for those folks life is easy and death is so hard
In my mother's house I can recall
When we would get hurt from a stumble or fall
She'd kiss the bruise and the hurt went away
But the pain would come back some other day
And I wish I could go back to mo mother's house
Back to my mother's house
Where she made her vows to love and stay with me
A turtle has a shell to hide
But people they have their own shells inside
And when we get frightened and hurt and afraid
Our shells we crawl into and we pull down the shades
But inside the shell there was a heart
And it's time to start taking the shell apart
And when we have a heart once more
Then we've shattered the shell that once we wore
And I wish I could go back to my mother's house
Back to my mother's house
Where she made her vows to love and stay with me
Well it's hard to be able to comprehend
That life is on borrowed time, but time we can't lend
For ending is good for those who repent
But dust is to dust and the dust blows away
How can you say that you're sorry and sad
When you can't understand why death makes you mad
And it seems for some life is a facade
And for those folks life is easy and death is so hard
And I wish I could go back to my mother's house
Back to my mother's house
Where she made her vows to love and stay with me
To love and stay with me
