Fast Track Judge And Jury
An artist stares through plane glass windows
Through equally glassy eyes
Somewhere, somehow, along the line
Youthful promise passed him by
He saw the world through a rose colored shine
But the gray crept in and stopped the time
A season came but didn’t end
Sank into bones and under skin
Cause it’s too hard
To live this life
When no one’s listening
And every night
I’ll find myself on the fence with continuing
The light fades, music ushers you offstage
The consensus reeks of overplay
And although you’ll age
You’ll never escape
You wake up to break down
Yet live to fight
Cover your tracks and bleach the (site)
Paint off center, made askew
The underscore must’ve missed you
Cause it’s so hard
To live this life
When no one’s listening
And every night
I’ll find myself on the fence with continuing
When night falls
And shadows blanket the streets
Your heart starts skipping beats
And when the tick of the clock
Finds it’s way to your ears
The sound is deafening
Did I ever stand a chance?
Will I ever say a word?
Cause it’s so hard
To live this life
When no one’s listening
And every night (Nobody said it’d ever be easy)
I’ll find myself torn up but recovering
Will it ever end?
