Bob Dylan's Poetry Lyrics

Four Bitchin' Babes Bob Dylan's Poetry

I once was in love with my English teacher
The grooviest teacher in school
He wore John Lennon glasses, had long wavy hair
And a mustache like Ringo's - cool

He wore bell bottom blue jeans and torn tennis shoes
And ended each class saying peace
And all of the other girl thought him, like me
Sweet as Bob Dylan's poetry

When he talked about Dante there was fire in his soul
And the class was burning
Through Hemingway, Mark Twain and Yates and Thoreau
Didn't know we were learning

Once I turned in a paper and he read it out loud
And for the rest of the week I floated on a pink cloud
I once was in love with my English teacher
Who loved Bob Dylan's poetry

I had a picture of him behind the blue peacoat
In my locker
And someday I want a boyfriend like him
A Shakespeare-rocker

I had heard that he went to protest and led picket lines
And that he smoked things he shouldn't sometimes
Once he brought a guitar and we spent the whole hour
Singing Bob Dylan's poetry

"How many roads must a man walk down
Before they call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
And how many times must the cannonballs fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in wind
The answer is blown' in the wind

I once was in love with my English teacher
But on the last day of school
It was the last time I ever saw him
'Cause he was leaving too

He said the school let him go 'cause he never fit in
Then the draft sent him off to go see Ho-Chi-Min
And I cried 'cause there'd not been another like him
Teaching Bob Dylan's poetry
