Kagoule Damp Sand
Damp sand and pretty handfuls of glassy minerals gather round and form
A tight circle so I can't back out so you can lie me down and press the tiny stones
Into my sinuses, fill up my cavities so
Now nothing can drip, nothing can weep or regurgitate no more
A static frame leans against a white wall there it remains for now
What's with the lifelessness? Controlled expressions are practical
This is how it went
You set me up
And I climbed into my shell
And hid until dawn
Years pass, easy summers unaware of how slow time has passed
As I'm getting used to it there's a wild wind and it blows out of me
I stretch my ligaments, I relearn how to breathe
Through sore lungs with aching muscles that always tire out and quickly blacken
It was soft mud so I crawled my way through the surface without your hand to take
This time I'll do it right, my throat's never been so dry
This is how it went
You set me up
And I climbed into my shell
And hid until dawn
A field, a home, a hole, a mound
Block up, breathe in, block up, blow out
It's useless
