An Open Letter To Dick Cheney Lyrics

Mc Lars An Open Letter To Dick Cheney

Dear Dick Cheney,

As a concerned citizen, I want you to know that I
appreciate your long involvement in politics and
dedication
to America. I want to preface this letter saying: who
cares that you were arrested twice for drunk driving.

1) Once in November of 1962
2) Then again in 1963

You were excercising your freedoms as an American
citizen. And even if you were endangering the lives
of others in the process, you were doing your duty to
America. I know that you were a strong support of the
Star Wars Missile Defense Sytem and that even Ronald
Reagan loved you. I know you voted against the
Clean Water Act and were a strong supporter of keeping
corporations quiet about the toxins they were flooding
into communities. That was very American of you.

Remember when Cliton became president and you decided
to leave politics for industry? We wept when you
left Washington to become CEO of Halliburton in 1995,
and we won't talk about your "tweaking" of Halliburton
accounting practices in 1998 when you "imrpoved"
revenues by $234 million... because that can be our
little secret.
You were showing American igenuity! Then remember when
you quit Halliburton to become vice president and your
company offered you a $20 million retirement package?
Maybe it was ridiculous of us to say that Halliburton
was
buying access to the White House and it was so selfless
of you to only accept $13.6 million.

You are a generous, moral man.

Then, remember when Al Queda attacked the Pentagon and
the World Trade Center on September 11th and you had
that heart attack? I mean, even though a lot of people
don't talk about it, you sure were doing your service
to your country by lying flat on a hospital bed as they
cut open your heart and American ran around frantic and
frightened. Because, hey, when a physically unstable
vice president who had more heart attacks than the
president
had left the country before entering the office, it was
important that you took those moments for yourself.
Sure
you can tell them that you were trying to hide out to
make sure you were safe in case another terrorist
attack had happened because the heart attack thing is
embarassing, and Cheney, I see where you're coming
from.

Once you were vertical, however, you had every right to
be angry and show America how much you loved it by
destroying any credibility or integrity we had left
with the world. Maybe it was logical to invate Iraq
with
a complete lack of evidence that Hussein had anything
to do with September 11th or Al Queda. You were doing
your
duty to the country. And Cheney? It was just a
coincidence that Halliburton for up to $7 billion for
Iraqi oil
field reconstruction, right? Other companies surely had
no right to participate in the usual government bidding
process, because, that wasn't American.

Signed,

A Concerned Citizen
