DARK ROAD
In my car moving thru the insidious night, there’s nothing wrong that’s
ever been right, a ghost ran out in front of me, I swerved and I almost hit
a tree, if chaos were any more ordered we’d all be lost, dangerous curves
mismatched and star-crossed, white light over a dark blue tune, dark
road black cat and a full moon.
It’s not a windfall my hands are hard and worn, I’m lucky my hearts in
one piece the way my soul’s been scraped and torn, it’s just a mind full of
thoughts and a head full of wine, I had to give away everything I didn’t
need just to keep what was mine, I was trying to find myself but I wasn’t
looking for me, and when I saw I wasn’t afraid to say I see, misery comes
sooner but the morning soon, dark road black cat and a full moon.
I’m almost home but I keep wanting to look over my shoulder, I’m not
getting any younger and I might not get much older, some people I’ve
seen seem to be frozen in time, as if life were for losers and the living of
it was a crime, but all those shadows are in the rear view mirror, the
dreams get dimmer as the world gets clearer, white light over a dark blue
tune, dark road black cat and a full moon.
