Rain On The Ruins Lyrics

Michael McGuire Rain On The Ruins

RAIN ON THE RUINS
© Electric Babylon Music Author: M.M.

You know I’ve tried to patch this cloud, screamed my most private
thoughts out loud, and I have come to a place, where I’ve been
spellbound by your grace, couldn’t bare to look into your face, where
all matter descends into empty space, you know I’ve tried to walk on
the sky, never even dreamed of wondering why, with all these lessons
all I’ve learned, is there aint nothing that cant be burned.
Evil thoughts and evil deeds, heartless desire and useless needs, we
have cried with the storm, we have made the winter warm, yet with all
our glory doings, it still rains on the ruins.
You know this water is the soul of life, and this precious metal was
forged into a knife, now the past is just a dream, the future is just a
scheme, the present is just a seam, the binds the bridge over the
endless stream, there’s an abstract image touching my mind, there’s a
special artist I’m trying to find, but there’s something wrong with this
picture we’re trying to paint, the savior is a sinner and the sinner is a
saint.
Evil thoughts and evil deeds, heartless desire and useless needs, we
have cried with the storm, we have made the winter warm, yet with all
our glory doings, it still rains on the ruins.
This desperate life was formed in the womb of the rain, the child of
pleasure shrouded in the afterbirth of pain, now the morning is in a
rage, the night is in a cage, time has come of age, and we shall listen
for the silent sage, and now I want you to take a walk with me, there’s
a place out in the meadow by a hollow tree, you can see the sky where
it comes down to the earth, we’ll try to figure out how much we’ve got
and how much it’s worth.
Evil thoughts and evil deeds, heartless desire and useless needs, we
have cried with the storm, we have made the winter warm, yet with all
our glory doings, it still rains on the ruins.
