Verna Cannon Stargazing
this lone star twinkles up my midnight you must pardon my
stargazing tonight i lie on my back to look up to you i
thrill to a glimmer faint to see and i can't set my eyes
free this lone star glitters but it's wise to me tiny
lines of brightness shine right through me i try to step
lightly. i shut my eyes tightly to be inconspicuous but
sometimes i watch from a different horizon going back i'm
always rising and falling with you this lone star does
shine but not for me why i linger lately is a mystery i
am growing colder under this low light maybe things were
meant to be this way maybe i might put a brand new
disguise on so watch your back i'm always rising or
falling with you
