Walter Martin Little Summer Fly
I like horns and I like strings
And all of life's frilly little things
And I like polka dots when they find their perfect spot
On some woodpecker's wings
And I like pictures, and gilded picture frames
Throwing dice and drinking pink champagne
And win or lose, oh lordy, I'm just glad I'm in the game
I like my radio turned way up loud
Well, everybody's always saying
"Come on, Walt, you gotta turn that down"
But everything that I feel is right there in that sound
So love me, or love me not
Just know that I'm trying with everything that I've got
To find the rainbows and
See what might be down there in that old pot
And all these ribbons and bows and curios
That decorate my life
They push me toward the light
Like the little summer fly
Upon the apple pie
Right where the sweetness lies
And it's there, and then someday I'll die
And the angels will sing on high
