Slim Dusty This Country Of Mine
Read yesterday in the weekly times people from the USA
Sayin’ they like the country and how they want to stay
Well you know that they’re welcome, I don’t want to
seem unkind
Just gotta say how I love this country of mine
But who owns the factories and who owns the farms
Who told us when and why to be in Vietnam
Don’t want to live in their shadow oh that would be a
crime
I don’t want them takin’ away this country of mine
This country of mine how long will it be
We’re in danger of losin’ our identity
This country of mine I hear talk that we’re free
But we’re not as free as we ought to be
Don’t need to be state 51 but seems we are anyhow
Right or wrong we follow, time to be ourselves is now
We’re losin’ our own heritage let’s lay it on the line
I don’t want them takin’ away this country of mine
This country of mine how long will it be
We’re in danger of losin’ our identity
This country of mine I hear talk that we’re free
But we’re not as free as we ought to be
I love a sunburnt country, a land of rollin’ plains
And if you’ve never known her, it’s hard to explain
It’s up to us the people, you’ve gotta take the time
And learn to say how much I love this country of mine
Don’t let them take away this country of mine
Oh no they’ll never ever take away this country of mine
