Will Smith Announces First Album in 20 Years with Release Date

Will Smith's latest album, Based On A True Story, marks his return to the music scene after an absence of two decades. It is his first full-length album since 2005's Lost and Found. The acclaimed actor-cum-rapper shared the official tracklist and the long-awaited release date for the album on his Instagram account on March 17.



Album Release Date and Announcement

Excitement surged as Smith confirmed the album’s arrival, set for March 28. In his social media post, he expressed his enthusiasm, writing, "It’s OFFICIAL!! My new album Based On A True Story drops March 28. TWO WEEKS!! Hit that presave. Been working on this project for a minute and I’m itchin’ to get it out to y’all ??."

Alongside the announcement, Will Smith revealed the album’s cover art, featuring him in a classic red Philadelphia Phillies cap, a matching jacket, a white t-shirt, sneakers, and baggy jeans. Fans can already pre-save the album online.

A Star-Studded Tracklist

The album consists of 14 tracks, which Smith refers to as "episodes." Several previously released singles will be included, such as Beautiful Scars, You Can Make It, Work Of Art (featuring his son Jaden and Russ), and Tantrum with Joyner Lucas. The project also boasts collaborations with artists like Teyana Taylor and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
